Beatrice Offshore Windfarm – WTG Jacket Foundation GVI & Jacket Repairs

Located in the Moray Firth, the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm project is Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm, comprising of 84 Siemens turbines and providing 588MW capacity since being fully operational in 2019, enough to power some 450,000 homes.

Wescott Industrial Services were contracted by SSE to complete a GVI to 42 WTG Jacket Foundations and remedial Coating Repairs to 3 Jackets. We took on the scope of work on reimbursable contract. We completed the works to a very high standard and worked extremely closely with the SSE management team to execute the works.

We had 2 POB working on the Inspection Survey of the 42 WTG Jacket Foundations, the team liaised with SSE onshore management and vessel crew to ensure the inspection survey was efficient as possible, often having to visit different assets to what were originally planned due to other conflicting works in the field. Weekly updated programmes from Wescott assisted SSE in their planning, ensuring a better safe working environment.

Detailed Inspection Survey Reports accompanied with a pictured punch list of average 300 defects were provided for each WTG Jacket Foundation.

Following the completion of the WTG Jacket Foundation GVI, we completed coating repairs to 3 Jacket Foundations. This was a very challenging work scope due to the majority of the defects being submerged and only accessible during low tide. The Wescott team worked alongside the vessel crew to ensure sailing times met with the low tide, and eliminating as much down time as possible. Daily reports were submitted to SSE to provide information of works carried out that day, along with a 24hr lookahead to assist with planning. Even with challenging environmental conditions and access limitations, Wescott completed all works within timeframe allowed.

All work carried out is supported by a three-year warranty.
